Joyce Aydiner says (3rd March 2010):
>>Hi Jeanie,
I don't know if you have seen this but I am pasting it below for you to read. Anyone can now get a free eye test at tesco permanently. You don't have to buy their glasses either.
Tesco offers free eye tests
Supermarket giant Tesco is now offering free eye tests for all at many of its larger stores.
Anyone not entitled to a free NHS eye test can save the £10 fee it used to charge.
Is this a permanent move?
Yes, since 26 February
Where can you find a Tesco optician?
To find your nearest Tesco optician, use the store locator function on its website and click the 'Opticians available' box on the left of the page.
However, Tesco only has 131 in-store opticians across the UK so you may have to travel far for one.
For example, the closest Tesco with an optician to MSE Towers, in west London, is over six miles away, which represents a long trip across the city.
If there is no store nearby, get our Free Weekly Email which includes free eye test offers when available.
How much does an eye test usually cost?
Some get it free, such as anyone under 16, over 60 or who has certain medical conditions (see the NHS website for full info). Eye tests have been free for all in Scotland since 2006.
Some major stores charge up to £25, however.
Here's a list of typical charges given to us today by various non-Tesco stores
Eye test costs
Optician Basic cost
Boots £20
Optical Express £15
Specsavers £19.50
Vision Express £25
Source: individual stores
How to find cheap glasses/lenses
As well as free eye tests, Tesco is selling glasses from £10, which includes both lenses and the frame.
You do not need to buy glasses or anything else to get the free eye test at Tesco.

Sarah says (9th November 2009):
>>Re www.boots.com Bargain Alert
Thank you so much for sending through this offer. My partner and I were both told this week that we were losing our jobs so I needed to go to boots to buy some more protect and perfect serum, some mascara and a new hanging wash bag (whilst I still have an income) but when I saw your offer I went online instead and did very well for myself than you. I bought two of the serums which entitled me to the free no 7 gift, the mascara entitled me to a free 17 gift (false eyelashes which I have always wanted to try) the washbag was part of the 3 for 2 on gifts promotion, so I had a look at those and spotted the perfect present for a dancing fanatic freind of mine which then enabled me to get an extra present for my son free ( a new bionicle - he's ging to love me). Ontop of all that i got the 800 extra points (i have been trying to earn enough to replace my perfume that ran out 3 months ago and this should finally do it) plus i had spent enough to earn free delivery - RESULT.
I always look forward to receiving your emails but regretably had never taken the time to thank you before, for which I apologise.
thanks again
Sarah
