>>the results from sites like energyhelpline are only valid if you put in your actual gas/elec usage - after your previous comment I followed the link and found that, using my usage data, if I switch to another supplier instead of going to Websaver 3 I can save an additional £5 per annum - not really worth the hassle

Hi Steve. It is confusing with all the different tariffs and rates for different areas of the country. I put in the average monthly cost when I checked yesterday. With Economy 7 I am paying 11p per unit mostly for my daytime electricity and 4.4p per unit at night for off peak with www.npower.com . A comparison site like www.energyhelpline.com is probably the easiest way to check if you are getting the best deal. I agree, it is not worth bothering for a fiver.

>>OK - Just checked on www.energyhelpline.com . The nearest and lowest price is British Gas Websaver 3 which comes in at a whopping £243 MORE!!
I am with www.npower.com and I am going to stick with them

>>If you deal with your gas and/or electric bills from British Gas online there is a somewhat difficult to find tariff called WEBSAVER 3 that gives a 6% saving until 01/08/2010

I'm not sure how that would compare with economy 7, which you can get with all suppliers. You get less than half price elctricity for off peak times. I run my washine machine, dish washer and tumble dryer (when necessary)at night and more than nearly 40% of my use is off peak rates.
***UPDATE***
You have got me thinking about this now so I am going to check to see if I have got the best deal on www.energyhelpline.com - I know whichever one is the cheapest, it is still far too expensive!
